We’re saddened to hear of the recent wildfire situations in the Northwest Territories, British Columbia and Maui. We’re committed to providing uninterrupted coverage to plan members affected by these wildfires and have processes in place to accommodate our affected customers. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by these situations. We’ve provided a few common questions and answers to help you direct any constituents who may reach out.

  • How do plan members access their prescriptions if they’ve been evacuated or affected by a natural disaster?
    • Plan members that require an early refill on their prescription will be able to do so. They can ask the pharmacist to contact Alberta Blue Cross® to confirm their identity to dispense the medication.
  • How do plan members access their benefits if they’ve been evacuated or affected by a natural disaster?
    • Health providers such as dental offices, chiropractors and physiotherapists can call Alberta Blue Cross® to confirm a member’s identity and eligibility for benefits if the member does not have their ID card.
  • What should a plan member do if they’re travelling and are affected by a natural disaster?
    • If they have travel coverage with an existing personal or group plan they can call 1-888-772-2583 (in Canada and USA) toll free. From all other countries, or if they have trouble using the toll-free number, they can call 1-403-225-4289. These numbers can also be found on the member ID card.
