We were pleased to partner with the Alberta 55plus Summer Games again, which took place this year in Brooks. Our street team was on location to hand out swag, greet the participants at registration and take in the opening ceremonies, which featured a beautiful showcase of traditional Indigenous dancing from members of the Siksika Nation.

Many of the participants and volunteers from across the province have been involved with the games for many years. More than 800 participants excitedly registered for their events. “It was great to see people coming together and reconnecting,” says Alberta Blue Cross® Community Impact manager, Ashley Bolduc. “It felt like they had created their own community rather than it just being about the event.”

Alberta Blue Cross® is deeply engaged in the communities we serve across the province—not only in fulfillment of our mandate to support the health and wellness of Albertans but as we live our social purpose to support all Albertans to live their best life. We’re committed to promoting wellness for every age in our communities and working to advance the concept of wellbeing at any age.

Established in 1980, Alberta 55 plus is a volunteer-driven group who helps mature Albertans enjoy a healthy, vital future through active lifestyle choices. Sponsoring the Alberta 55plus games, which promotes sports and recreation development for all Albertans 55 years of age and older, is one of the ways Alberta Blue Cross® can demonstrate our support for seniors’ mental and physical health.
