Built Together is a program that helps Albertans build spaces for active living in their communities by offering $50,000 grants to fund infrastructure projects. Grants are awarded to projects in one of each of the following locations: Edmonton, Calgary, a secondary city, a rural community and an Indigenous community. Since the program’s inception in 2013, Alberta Blue Cross® has funded a total of 44 projects across Alberta, including outdoor gyms, sports courts, a bike skills park, playgrounds, a skate park, an outdoor rink and more.
In 2022, we received 106 applications for a wide variety of initiatives from all regions and corners of the province. The initiatives selected to receive grants this year include the following:
- Edmonton:
- Weinlos Parents’ Education Society: playground redevelopment
- Calgary:
- Sherwood School: outdoor basketball court update
- Secondary city:
- Robina Baker School Parent Fundraising Committee, Devon: playground development project.
- Rural communities:
- Town of Barrhead: musical playground development.
- Indigenous communities:
- Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement: Paddle Prairie School walking track.
