We extended the COVID Community Roots Program for 2022 to continue to provide support for rural and remote communities recovering from the pandemic. Since it launched on April 4, we have received over 160 applications and awarded more than 50 grants to community projects across Alberta, ranging from a toddler play program in Pincher Creek to an eldercare initiative in Grande Prairie.

The purpose of the COVID Community Roots Program is to provide support for populations made most vulnerable by the COVID-19 crisis. Through grants up to a maximum of $3,000, Alberta Blue Cross, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association and Communities ChooseWell are partnering to support the social, mental, emotional and physical well-being of populations in rural, remote and secondary communities across Alberta.

So far this year, over $120,000 has been awarded to Albertan communities from our community foundation. Learn more about the program on our community website.
